Mayan Ruins of Tulum

An important coastal trade city in the Mundo Maya, Tulum was a walled settlement inhabited from the 3rd century AD to the 10th century AD.
Here, the edifice, El Castillo (The Castle), is built on a high cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea and creates a stunning vista, especially at sunrise. Other important structures are the Temple of the Frescoes, which is ornately painted on the interior and adorned with detailed carved masks at each corner, and the Temple of the Descending God with intricate bas-relief carvings.

When my boyfriend and I are stressed out Tulum is our option! It has been the mecca for travelers that are seeking spiritual and physical relaxation, and it is so for us as well. Not only is it the most relaxing Mayan ruins, but it's also the only walled city of the Mayan Empire built by the sea. Gorgeous and with a great energy.

Tulum is the eco-archaeological ideal destination for nature lovers like me, sun, and history. You'll be amazed by it. I recommend the Tulum Xel-Ha tour, where you'll get your fill of Mayan Ruins and then can relax and cool off in the most amazing natural aquarium of the world.

Hi! After my fourth trip to Cancun and specifically to Tulum and Xel-Ha, I can say that I'm an area expert. I've been there for the last 4 years and I plan on returning every year until I'm 100! This place has some magical energy that you don't find anywhere else in the world, and the beaches and inlet at Xel Ha are terrific. If you plan on being on the area, don't miss Tulum! And if you want to enjoy the best that the Caribbean has to offer, then don't miss Xel Ha :)
